A Prayer for Chosen Family

g-d of friends

and roommates

coworkers

and co-religionists

and g-d, still

of all of us whose differences

still lead us to each other

allow us to spend this family day

with the ones who make our hearts sing

to remind us that we are not

what we lack

motherless

fatherless

stranger

alone

and to make a life worth living

that is both freely and deliciously chosen

so we may be sustained by the family of our own choosing today and all of our days.

amen.
