In Search of Abraham: Prayer for Reparenting Ourselves on Father’s Day

whether we have smashed the idols
or are gone
going
out
of our father’s house

never a home

if we are
curious
planting
or
searching

however we show up or do not show up on this fateful day

may we will ourselves to go forth and choose our own fates

honor the children unbecoming adults

so they can become children again
and may we surrender to our burdens
embracing hard-won truths
over the allure
of false images
and may the freedom of our choices
rooted in the grace of Divine Love
give us and our generations
holy disturbance
and everlasting peace

for the sake of the child in us and all children beyond us.

forever in our names.

Amen.
