For instance, wine, traditionally a symbol of joy, could be used at joyous occasions not envisioned by tradition—college graduation or a coming-out ceremony. By contrast, using wine as a symbol of death would be inconsistent with traditional Jewish practice. The purpose of this feature is to provide the user with a ritual toolbox from which to pick and choose in a creative and Jewishly meaningful way.
