This tapestry features common Jewish symbols. Clicking on any one will reveal what it traditionally symbolizes, how it is traditionally used, and contemporary usages, where they exist. For instance, wine, traditionally a symbol of joy, could be used at joyous occasions not envisioned by tradition—college graduation or a coming-out ceremony. By contrast, using wine as a symbol of death would be inconsistent with traditional Jewish practice. The purpose of this feature is to provide the user with a ritual toolbox from which to pick and choose in a creative and Jewishly meaningful way.
