Officiants
Generally speaking, the rabbi of the synagogue will officiate at the bar or bat mitzvah. However, when the bar or bat mitzvah takes place outside of synagogue, any knowledgeable Jew who can lead the prayer service can officiate. Often the bar or bat mitzvah child will lead part of the service.
